Applications are invited for the post of LIBRARIAN (unreserved). RRI seeks a dynamic self-motivated team leader with the demonstrated competence and potential to maintain the eminence and relevance of the library.

Essential Requirements:
1. Undergraduate qualification in Science (I or II Class).

2. Postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Science or Associateship in Information Science or equivalent degree from a recognized university or ISI/NISCAIR or IISc. This qualification should have been achieved as a regular course (I Class).

3. 10 years experience in a library at a reputed research institute.

4. Candidates must be below 50 years of age.


Desirable:

1. PhD in Library and Information Science from a recognized University.

2. Published work in Library and Information Science.

3. Competence in the use of computers and software for library and information technology.

4. Communication skills for effective interaction with print and electronic publishers and other information service providers, user community, and for engaging in inter-institutional partnerships.

5. Demonstrated record of self-motivated efforts towards improvement of library environments.


Duration: The appointment will initially be on a five year contract, including two year probation. Based on performance evaluation the appointee may be offered a long-term appointment.

Scale of Pay: Pay Band 3, Rs 15,600 – 39,100 + Grade Pay Rs 7,600 + allowances at Bangalore as per GOI norms. Exceptional candidates may be offered a higher pay: Pay Band 4, Rs 37,400– 67,000 + Grade Pay Rs 8,700 + allowances.
